An interested party wants to know the appraisal of our home, which is ridiculously low, due to the poor economy. I'm afraid to tell them the figure. How can I handle this so I don't lessen the worth of the house ?

My first suggestion would be getting a second appraisal value. Sometimes a second appraiser might give you a more favorable answer.

If the second appraisal value still seems low, then you need to think about the best way to share this information with your prospective customer. I would not recommend hiding the appraisal value from them since they will eventually find out.

Perhaps you can focus on the positive aspects of your property (especially those that the customer commented on). You also might consider giving a slight discount if they are extremely agitated by the news.
